A few stops during a quick stay in LA

In honor of the upcoming summer solstice here is a sneak peak of some beautiful linen shirts that are up for release this week.

In honor of the upcoming summer solstice here is a sneak peak of some beautiful linen shirts that are up for release this week.

Here’s a little ditty that was thrown together when we released the Cone shirts a little while back. Since summer is rolling through spend a few seconds to let your mind wander in past/previous adventures to help pass the day.

Short Sleeve Flower Print

Unseasonably warm weather across the country has brought the flowers out a bit early this year.

Our collection of short sleeve flower shirts has sprouted in four colors: navywhiteblack and red

With spring upon us, we have shortened our sleeves - letting the true colors of some of our favorite local skaters and tattoo artists come through.

All of our featured friends keep full sleeves all year around (thanks to some incredibly intricate ink work) so, they were all psyched to free up their arms for the day.

If you are in the neighborhood and are looking for some work to be done or want a friend to skate the the local spots with - you can count on these guys to take care of you.

We just hope you have as much fun in our shirts as we do photographing our friends in ‘em.

The Limited Italian Chambray

Please enjoy a limited offering of our refined Italian chambray.

Both the charcoal and navy chambray are intelligently appointed with horn buttons and our signature English spread-collar.

Continuing with standout sommeliers and rockstar winemakers, we would like to introduce your our friends Matt Straus of Heirloom Cafe and Steven Satterfield of Nopa. Matt is the the proprieter and som at Heirloom and Steven is the manager and som at Nopa.

Both restaurants are standouts in the San Francisco scene. Nopa is a perpetually packed purveyor of simple rustic cuisine. Heirloom Cafe is a Mission oasis, a quite and welcoming space with exceptional cuisine and one of the city’s most exceptional wine lists (the depth and brevity of the list won Matt Straus the honor of San Franisco’s sommelier of the year award last year).

Take these shirts as another well placed reminder to eat well, drink well and look good doing it.

The Bandana Summer Shirt

Put simply, this is our rock star shirt. Made for seizing the best a warm summer’s evening has to offer.

We made a some exclusively for our trip down to SXSW in Austin but we got so many emails we quickly rangled up some fabric to bring you guys a few.

Enjoy ‘em…

Upon our return from SXSW, we had the opportunity to meet up with two of California’s most rockstar young wine makers, Gavin Chanin (Chanin Wines) and John Raytek (Ceritas Wines).

Not unlike the Bloods and Cryps, Gavin and John represent Californias two top competing winemaking counties, Santa Barbara and Sonoma.

Both gents are viticultural vagrants, crusaders in pursuit of a more balanced approach to winemaking. Thanks to the accolades of Jancis Robinson and other acclaimed critics, their passion is no longer underground. Read the In Pursuit of Balance Manifesto

Like their wines,  these shirts are soft and approachable. Fun and colorful but balanced by our minimalistic approach to styling - we let the fabric do the talking on this one.

We raise a glass to these two winemakers and these two shirts. Imbibe!  Enjoy the night. Pursue your passion, and have fun doing it.

Many thanks to Matt Straus of Heirloom Cafe as well, whose restaurant is a bastion to the craft of winemaking.

Midnight Italian Chambray

This is quite possibly our most refined dress shirt to date. It appears to be a beautiful indigo-rich denim from a distance, but the hand is incredibly soft.

Our dark horn buttons are the perfect partner in crime. Subtly aiding and abbeting the English spread collar to pull off one of chambrays suavest apperances to date.

Put it under a charcoal suit with a bold tie and you would have a hard time not being the best dressed fella in the room. Enjoy this limited offering, because when it is gone, it’s gone.

Many things can be said about Christopher Losa.

He was one of our first customers and one of the most impeccably dressed

His sartorial interest is representative of his greater appreciation for design.

Him and his wife’s restaraunt, Bar Bambino, is a magnificent manifestation of his ethos, attention to detail and service as well as his masterful knowledge of Italian and Austro Hungarian wines.

When you visit, it is imperative to ask him to recommend one of fourteen orange wines on the menu.

With Bar Bambino celebrating its fifth anniversary this month - Christopher’s mastery of hospitality and craft is truly an inspiration and we are proud to have him as a neighbor and friend.

Bar Bambino’s Christopher Losa.

With so many amazing eats in San Francisco it’s hard to know where to begin.

But let us make a small suggestion, Bar Bambino. Not only is it a short three blocks away from our shop, its amazing Italian food and unbelievable wine selection is hardly matched.

We have the great pleasure of knowing Christopher Losa, the owner of Bar Bambino.

Christopher is a great business man with a kind and hospitable personality that’s difficult to come by. Not to mention a sense of style that is truly his own. It’s no wonder we’re proud to have him in our shirts.

You will not be disappointed in your Bar Bambino experience so we encourage you to make your way over.

Swing back by tomorrow and check out more details on our new shirt release.

The Madras Summer Shirt.

For the past year we have been asked when we are launching a short sleeve shirt. That being said, we’d like to proudly introduce our newest style, the SS Milton

Why? Because when Milton finally flips Lumbergh the bird and goes on permanent vacation with a babe under one arm and a Swingline stapler under his other, this is the shirt he will be wearing.

A single chest pocket for your sunnies as well as the perfect sleeve length to show off your artillery.

Our first offerings, the watermelon madras accompanied by the navy & magenta madras are particularly lightweight and soft, ready for the first day to break 70.

Get outside and have some fun.

(pocket protector not included)

This week we would also like to take the opportunity to introduce you to our newest form of TS modeling.

SHARE YOUR WEAR

Send us pictures of you guys rocking your TS gear.

It’s all pretty simple. You send us a picture many different ways (illustrated here).

Oh yeah, we almost forgot. If we edit and use your photo we send you a 15% off code for your next purchase.

Have some fun and be creative.

Mission Workshop & Bicycle Coffee Co. for S.S. Milton.

Biking is a way of life to many of our friends here in the neighborhood and we can’t help but highlight these stand-outs.

They’re energetic, active and always on the go. Knowing them they’re probably going somewhere we are inspired to end up.

Let’s start with our pals at Mission Workshop. These guys are right down the street from us, making bags that accompany the San Francisco bike-rider like no other!

Their aesthetic is clean, and fresh, not to mention they’re a great bunch of people - what’s not to love?

Crossing borders might be a new thing for Mission Workshop but you gotta know they’re gonna do it well! Berlin Mission Workshop opened on March 8 and will run for the next month.

We wish them the best of luck in their new endeavor and encourage all our readers to follow what they do closely.

If you thought, “I don’t think things can get any better under the Mission Workshop roof!” Well, you’re almost right, but add in Bicycle Coffee Co and you have one hell of a combination.

Roasting their coffee in Oakland, they use the facilities at Mission Workshop to weigh and distribute the beans.

With a name like Bicycle Coffee you can probably guess how the beans get from point A to point B.

Check back tomorrow for the release of our first short sleeved shirt of the year: the S.S. Milton.

The Traditional Japanese Indigo Shirt.

For this week’s shirts, we wanted to pay homage to Hidekazu. He took over as our amazing shop keeper back in December and has been a vital part of our success.

As we were going through traditional japanese fabrics earlier this year Kazu told us the story of how each print relates to springtime in Japan.

We held him to it and created these well appointed shirts with our signature horn buttons.

In Japan, it is said that the “stars wait for spring” and the Kira Boshi, or Shimmering Stars clear for the crisp evenings.

The Mizu Tama, or Rain Droplet, brings the rains needed to sprout new growth.

Finally, Hanami is a traditional Japanese custom where people admire the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms as the first sign of spring, which begins at the beginning of February on the island of Okinawa.

Sons of the Sunset.

The Sunset is the outermost neighborhood of San Francisco, lying right up against the Pacific Ocean.

The joke is “that’s the only place in California where real estate gets cheaper the closer you get to the ocean.”

The fog banks are thicker and the wind blows harder here than anywhere else in the city.

Photo: Matt Macdonald

The neighborhood is a bohemian patchwork of young families, artists, old salts and weathered surfers. All of whom thrive in the windswept “outsidelands” between the city and the sea.

The crossroads of it all lies between the corners of Irving and Judah on 46th Ave, where the surfers, bakers, restauranteurs and young shop owners have created one of the most interesting blocks in the city.

Mollusk Surf Shop started it all six years ago; Outerlands followed with the best bread west of Tartine Bakery and Trouble Coffee is the only place you can get an Americano, a fresh coconut and a slice of cinnamon toast thats thicker than a pastrami sandwich.

This past Sunday we had some majestic weather and decided to wrangle up some of the neighborhoods finest.

Out from studios and garages, on motor bikes and in vintage Karmann Ghia’s we lured everyone to the beach with cinnamon toast and cold beers. It was a rare occasion and a legendary gathering of friends. Luckily we had the cameras…

Sneak Peek

Thanks to our dear friend Anthony for this great video from our shoot with Sam! Check out more of his videos here. Enjoy!
